
Rosie Perez was born Rosa Maria Perez on September 6, 1964. She is an American actress. Her breakthrough was with Tina's performance in Do the Right Thing (1989), then followed closely by White Men Can't Hop (1992). Perez's performance in Fearless (1993) earned her a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress along with other honors. Perez's roles as a star in films include It Could Happen to You (1994), The Road to El Dorado(2000), Pineapple Express (2007) and Birds of Prey (2018). In addition, she received three Primetime Emmy Award nominations (in 1990, 1994 and) and a third Emmy nomination (2020-present) for her performance as the Flight Attendant. She has been in Broadway stage plays , including The Ritz and Frankie, Johnny in the Clair de Lune and Fish in the Dark. During the 18th season, she was also a cohost on ABC's talk program The View. She attended Grover Cleveland High School, located in the Ridgewood neighborhood in Queens. In 1999 her mother was living in poverty at the Woodside Houses, when she passed away due to AIDS-related issues.
